Lets go Sailing

There's nothing so much fun as messing around in boats.

There are a large range of opportunities to start having fun in boats and it is best to start sailing with other people so there is no need to buy your own boat from day one.

There are different types of sailing, which is really lucky as we all get excited by different things!

  • You can use a dinghy to explore creeks or harbours.
  • You can take mum, dad or your sister or brother for a picnic.
  • You can sail on a lake where you can always see the shore.
  • You can sail far out to sea.
  • Or you can race and sail fast!!! On your own/with a friend or with a team.

Depending on what you fancy you can chose your boat and make friends accordingly.

Sailing clubs tend to concentrate on racing, but they have the infrastructure to teach you to use boats safely and have nanny boats on hand for when you are out on your own, but would just like to know you can wave to someone for help!

A good grounding in club racing will give you the confidence to go off pottering on your own, or to take friends on picnics or you may even find that you are a natural and end up competing in events.
