Difficulty Level: Experienced

The International Contender was designed by Bob Miller in 1967 as a potential Olympic successor to the Finn dinghy. It is a single-handed trapeze dinghy that in many ways was ahead of it's time. Strict development of the class over the years has enabled the boat to be raced even in rough open sea conditions. The longevity of the class is a testament to the original design: simple, practical, with classic good looks

The boat has a trapeze which allows the sailor to harness the power of the wind very effectively. The Contender dinghy is regarded by many dinghy sailors to be technically challenging to sail.
